Each year the crops grown vary slightly depending on my markets, past year production, and whatever personal interest I’m pursuing. I usually grow between twelve to fourteen crops specifically for the Middlebury Food Co-op, a handful for local restaurants and catering businesses, and an additional dozen or more specially tailored for a CSA (community supported agriculture) that is managed by a local nonprofit. In total I usually start somewhere around fifty different plant varieties. Currently Firefly Fields is known best for everbearing strawberries that produce from June through October, though Sungold tomatoes are a very close second. Peppers are probably my favorite crop and I grow melons not because I have much of a market but because I love eating melons in the field on a hot summer day.
The following is a partial list of what Firefly grows:
Artichoke, Beans, Beets, Cabbage, Carrots, Chicory, Eggplant, Garlic, Greens, Jicama, Kale, Lettuce, Melons, Onions, Peas, Peppers, Potatoes, Radishes, Squash, Tomatoes, Basil, Chives, Cilantro, Epazote, Parsley, Strawberries, Raspberries, and mixed Flowers
